Local regulations

Belgium applies the GDPR, supplemented by the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to personal data processing. The supervisory authority is the APD / GBA (Data Protection Authority) in Brussels. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, and can be withdrawn at any time.

Contests and promotional games fall under the Code of Economic Law (Book VI) and, if chance is involved, under the Law of 7 May 1999 on games of chance, supervised by the Belgian Gaming Commission. Free marketing promotions (no purchase obligation, no financial stake) fall outside the scope of the gambling law. A clear, published, accessible set of rules must accompany every operation. Belgian VAT (21% standard rate) applies to Belgian businesses; reverse charge is available for intra-EU services with a valid BE 0XXX.XXX.XXX number.

Frequently asked questions

How does QronoPlay handle Belgian trilingualism?

QronoPlay is natively available in French and German, covering Wallonia and the German-speaking Community of Belgium. For Dutch (Vlaanderen), player-facing content can be customised in NL by the organiser via the platform's text editor. Customer support is provided in FR/EN/DE.

Is QronoPlay compliant with the Belgian APD/GBA?

Yes. QronoPlay complies with the GDPR and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018. The Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD / GBA) is the competent supervisory authority for companies established in Belgium. A DPA can be signed on request.

Do I need authorisation from the Gaming Commission?

No, not for free promotional games without financial stakes. The Belgian Gaming Commission regulates activities combining money and chance. Free QronoPlay instant wins, prize wheels, and quizzes for marketing purposes fall outside its scope.

Can I use QronoPlay for a B2B event in Brussels?

Yes. Many corporate events, client cocktails, and B2B fairs in Brussels use QronoPlay to animate their evenings. Host company quizzes, goodie draws, big-screen projection — the platform is ideal for the European corporate scene.

Can you invoice with Belgian VAT (21%)?

Yes. Belgian businesses receive a euro invoice. Reverse charge applies to intra-EU services if the BE number is valid (checkable via VIES). Invoices are compatible with Belgian accounting software (Odoo, Horus, Exact).

Can Flemish retailers use QronoPlay in Dutch?

Yes. The player interface is fully customisable: labels, emails, and rules can be written in Dutch. Flemish retailers use QronoPlay for digital Advent calendars, tourism quizzes (Bruges, Ghent), and in-store instant wins.
