Local regulations

Switzerland is not an EU member but has its own Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP/nLPD), in force since 1 September 2023 and largely aligned with the European GDPR. The supervisory authority is the FDPIC (Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner) in Bern. The nFADP requires clear information, a record of processing activities for high-risk processing, and mandatory data breach notification.

Money games involving chance are governed by the Federal Gambling Act (LJAr, 2018), supervised by the Federal Gaming Board (CFMJ/ESBK) and the intercantonal authority Comlot. Free skill-based games and promotional contests without purchase obligation fall outside this scope. Swiss VAT (8.1% standard rate since 2024) can be invoiced to Swiss businesses; invoices in EUR or CHF are available.

Frequently asked questions

Is QronoPlay compliant with the Swiss nFADP?

Yes. QronoPlay follows the requirements of the new Federal Act on Data Protection, in force since 1 September 2023. The FDPIC is the competent supervisory authority. The platform documents processing activities, provides clear information to participants, and supports access and rectification rights.

Can I be invoiced in Swiss francs (CHF)?

Yes, on request for annual contracts. The default billing currency is euros. Swiss businesses can also pay in EUR via SEPA transfer or card, with the conversion handled by the client's bank at the day's rate.

Does QronoPlay work for French-, German- and Italian-speaking Switzerland?

Yes. The platform is available in French, German, Italian, and English, covering the three main Swiss linguistic regions. Player-facing content can be fully adapted per canton: Geneva, Vaud, Bern, Zurich, Lugano.

Do I need authorisation from the CFMJ/ESBK for a marketing contest?

No. The CFMJ/ESBK and LJAr govern money games (casinos, lotteries). Free QR code promotional contests, without purchase obligation or financial stake, are considered commercial operations outside the gambling law scope.

Is QronoPlay suited to Swiss luxury hospitality?

Yes, it is a flagship use case. Palaces in Zurich, Geneva, or St. Moritz, resorts in Interlaken or Crans-Montana: instant wins on arrival, property-history quizzes, exclusive draws. The premium experience matches Swiss guest expectations.

Does player data stay in Switzerland or Europe?

By default, data is hosted in the European Union (France, OVH Roubaix), which is recognised as providing an adequate level of protection by the Swiss Federal Council. Swiss hosting can be studied on request for clients with specific regulatory requirements (banks, insurers).
